Novato Fourth of July Parade
Cheryl Paddack to Serve as Grand Marshal of Novato Fourth of July Parade
The Novato Fourth of July Parade will feature one of the city’s most dedicated and inspirational leaders – Cheryl Paddack, CEO of North Marin Community Services – as its grand marshal this year. This year’s parade theme is “Love Where You Love ... Make a Difference.”
Paddack has spent the past 25 years advancing community well-being, mostly in Novato. North Marin Community Services, which dates to 1972, assists more than 10,000 people annually with trauma-informed, integrated, and culturally appropriate services. The organization’s whole family approach ensures everyone has access to comprehensive support designed to foster resiliency and strengthen community.
"Cheryl surpasses her job description as CEO,” said Parade Chair Jennifer Goldfinger. “She lives and breathes being a compassionate, accepting, supportive person to everyone she meets regardless of who they are.”
The largest Independence Day parade in the North Bay attracts upwards of 10,000 spectators and hundreds of participants. It starts at 10 a.m. on Grant Avenue at Reichert Avenue in the heart of Old Town and runs west for approximately seven-tenths of a mile to Seventh Street.
The all-volunteer committee is welcoming entries through Friday, June 21, and is in need of more volunteers.
It’s an excellent opportunity for high school students to boost a resume or college application. Service organizations, houses of worship, and other civic groups are encouraged to round up a handful of people to assist with the parade.

Prior to the parade, the Presbyterian Church of Novato will hold its annual Buckaroo Breakfast in the parking lot of the Redwood Credit Union (Grant Avenue at First Street). After the parade, there will be a bonus concert by one of the parade participants, the Ophir Prison Marching Kazoo Band & Temperance Society. The show will take place at Pocket Park, near the end of the parade route.
