PROGRAM
Brahms: Nänie
Brahms: Schicksalslied
Elgar: Symphony No. 1
Best known for his “Pomp and Circumstance” March, Edward Elgar was a composer of enormous passion and imagination. His First Symphony is a generous and noble work, with a breathtakingly beautiful slow movement. Brahms’s Nänie and Schicksalslied are two gems of choral writing, alternately radiant and somber.
