Name: '1st Wednesday' - Labor Law Q&A Sessions for Employers: "MASS PRODUCED WAGE CLAIMS"
Date: April 4, 2018
Time: 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM PDT
Event Description:
At least one Southern California law firm is signing up Bay Area employees as clients online without even meeting them, and then sending demand letters to their employers requiring the immediate production of all of the new "client's" payroll and personnel records. How employers respond to such demands may determine not only whether they are sued, but whether they are the subject of a class action lawsuit brought on behalf of all employees. Employers receiving such letters are advised to, "proceed with caution..." This ongoing workshop series is being conducted by veteran Petaluma labor & employment attorney, Jay Putnam. Putnam, has advised employers exclusively, in labor matters for over 36 years. He hopes to provide local business owners and managers with a solid, working understanding of California labor law, as a means of helping them avoid the often crippling cost and disruption caused by lawsuits resulting from a misunderstanding of applicable legal requirements. Members are encouraged to bring their questions. Putnam says he intends to conduct informal, monthly workshops, where people can bring their questions and leave each month with important information that will immediately improve their business operations.
