SolarCraft Installs Additional Solar for Meadow Club
Sun Continues to Shine on Premier Marin County Golf Course
Novato, CA (July 2018)—Novato and Sonoma-based SolarCraft announced the completion two additional solar energy installations at The Meadow Club in Fairfax, CA. The renowned Marin County Golf Course continues to increase the overall sustainability of their 90-acre course with the installation of a 235 kW DC solar photovoltaic system, reducing their operating costs by additional thousands every month and stabilizing energy expenses for decades to come.
The photovoltaic system is ground mounted on a south facing hillside above the maintenance building which also supports a 26 kW solar electric system installed by SolarCraft in 2011. The new hillside system consists of 654
solar panels and will produce 382,600 kWh annually, converting sunlight directly into electricity to power the
Club House and Ag Pump and offsetting their yearly energy consumption by more than 60%.
SolarCraft also installed a 17 kW solar electric system on the Club’s Golf Storage Facility earlier this year, powering their electric golf carts with clean, renewable electricity. Furthermore, a solar powered water heating system for their pool was installed by SolarCraft in 2017 and helps maintain an average water temperature of 80 degrees from April to October. Meadow Club members can now enjoy swimming in warm water heated by the sun. “Working with SolarCraft has been a terrific experience, this is now our fourth solar installation with them and we continue to be impressed with their expertise and professionalism,” stated Jack Grehan, Meadow Club General Manager.
Meadow Club’s long history of conservation & environmental stewardship work is also highlighted by their participation as one of the first golf courses to participate in a program engaging the golf community in conservation efforts for the threatened monarch butterfly.
During the life of their combined solar power systems, over 331 tons of carbon dioxide generated by Meadow Club’s operations will be eliminated every year. This impact is equivalent to removing air pollution produced by more than 20 million miles of driving over 25 years or the pollutants removed by 389 acres of trees in one year. The nearly maintenance-free system should pay for itself within 5-6 years, and last over 30 years
