Press Release: Meet RCNS New President, Sylvia Barry

For the club’s 25 year in Novato, the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise is pleased to introduce Sylvia Barry as its club President for the 7/1/18 – 7/1/19 Rotary year.  Sylvia is a great choice to run the club not just because she’s a long standing, active Rotarian but because she has been so active in our community.

Born and raised in Taiwan, Sylvia Barry came to the United States for advanced studies attaining her Master of Applied Statistics degree at Ohio State University.  Working in the Information Technology field and moving around the country for large companies she met her husband, Michael Barry and settled down in Novato.  Since 2004 Sylvia has been a Realtor with Coldwell Banker’s Global Luxury Brand in Marin and Sonoma getting to know the areas well, but also becoming very active in the community.

Sylvia Barry has been on the Board of Directors for the Marin Association of Realtors since 2012, is a Leadership Novato graduate 2012, and volunteers her time on committees and boards at the City of Novato, Novato Unified School District, Novato Chamber of Commerce, School Fuel (board member), San Marin Improvement Association, and if that’s not enough she’s also active in Soroptimist International!

For her hard work volunteering, the Marin Association of Realtors awarded Sylvia their 2017 Community Service Volunteer of the Year award, and in 2009 Frank Howard Allen (now Coldwell Banker) awarded Sylvia their Realtor Founders Award, and she had previously been awarded Hewlett Packard’s Commitment to Excellence Award.

With more than 60 members, The Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise is sure to have an active year supporting their current projects but don’t be surprised if a few new ones pop up this year!  RCNS meets at Moylan’s Restaurant and Brewery Tuesday mornings from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and has a Satellite Evening club that meets the first and Third Monday’s at Sam’s Restaurant from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.  For more information see the club’s website: http://www.novatosunriserotary.org/
